Does Markham have genuine sales, or is the discount off an inflated price?

It varies by item, and the gap can be wide. Across the 37 Markham deals we have tracked long enough to judge, the typical badge is 55% off, but measured against the price the item actually holds, the median real saving is R0 (0%). The rest of that percentage is calculated off a was-price we have not seen the item reach. We show both numbers on every deal so the badge does not do the deciding.

How many Markham deals is SaleDrop tracking right now?

We are tracking 37 Markham deals at 50% or more off, priced from R59 to R999, up to 63% off. Of those, 37 have enough recorded history for us to judge the saving, and 2 are at the lowest price we have on record.

How do I know if a Markham deal is actually a good price?

Ignore the percentage badge and look at two figures we record: the lowest price we have ever seen the item at, and the price it usually holds. If the current price is at or near that recorded low and clearly below the usual price, the saving is real. Our method is on the how-we-verify page.

How Markham sales really work

Markham is a TFG menswear chain, so the range is men's clothing, footwear, formalwear and streetwear-leaning casual. Like the other TFG brands it discounts often, which makes the badge unreliable on its own and the underlying price history the thing to trust.

Menswear clearances tend to be sharpest on seasonal pieces, jackets, knitwear and formal shirts, when the range rotates. We keep the recorded low and the usual price next to each deal so a 50 percent badge can be judged against what the item actually cost before.

Formalwear and outerwear see the deepest genuine cuts at season change.
Basics like tees and chinos discount shallowly and often, so wait for a recorded low rather than the first markdown.
Check our usual-price figure: that is the price the item held longest, which is a fairer anchor than the was-price.
